Who we are
We are a small group of four friends living in Austin, Texas. Daniel, Laura, Marcus and Sofia. We met in 2019 in a neighborhood volunteer group, and since then we have shared coffees, errands and more than one afternoon solving everyday problems together.
One of us needed to find a pest control service urgently. What seemed like a quick search turned into a whole afternoon of calls, outdated pages and no clear answers. That same day we thought no one should waste time like that when they have a problem at home.
So we decided to create Shield Pest HQ in 2022. We started with a simple list of services we knew, and little by little we added more cities and more details. We wanted the information to be clear, up to date and easy to check.
Today we use AI to help us organize data and draft some texts, but we choose the sources, review every listing and answer reader messages ourselves. Every three months we go through the directory by hand to confirm that what we publish is still useful.

How we build this directory
Each listing's details (address, phone, opening hours, rating and number of reviews) come from public Google Maps information and, when the business has one, from its official website. Every listing shows when the data was retrieved.
Descriptive texts are written with the help of artificial intelligence from that data. Specific details, such as opening hours, ratings, services or prices, are always shown with their source. Ratings are those published by users on Google: we do not write or edit them.
If you spot a wrong detail or you own a business, please use the form: we review every report and correct the listing.
